New Vegas Looks Amazing in Unreal Engine 5

While New Vegas has aged over the years, it remains a fantastic part of the series and this video shows what a modern version might look like.

Released in 2010, Fallout: New Vegas is a milestone in the long-running post-apocalyptic franchise. It is considered by many to be the best Fallout game ever released. Its great story and writing are probably more memorable to some people than others, especially when compared to the modern versions that have been added since Bethesda took over in 2008. However, Fallout: New Vegas has more or less aged over the past decade, and a recently released video shows what the game would look like with a more modern engine.
Brought to you by DSO Gaming, the video, created by the YouTube channel TeaserPlay, shows what Fallout: New Vegas would look like if it were remade today with Unreal Engine 5. One can imagine the fantastic detail and lighting of the Mojave Wasteland being recreated in this dev kit, as one would expect from the engine. Please note that this video does not represent the remake (official or not) that we are currently working on, but only a concept trailer.
If this idea sounds familiar, it’s because TeaserPlay has already released several such trailers. A video was recently released showing what Grand Theft Auto 3 looks like in Unreal Engine 5. They have also made concepts for Vice City, Assassin’s Creed, Resident Evil 4 and Red Dead Revolver. This is an interesting project, not only because it shows the potential of repurposing old games into new toolkits, but also because it gives a glimpse of how game technology has evolved in a short period of time.
The Unreal Engine is one of the most popular game engines in the world, used for everything from AAA to indie titles. The latest version was released some time ago and has been used in the development of many promising titles, including Redfall, the new Layers of Fear and CD Projekt Red’s sequel, The Witcher.
As for the series itself, Bethesda recently confirmed that it will be making Fallout 5 at some point. Indeed, it’s still a long way off, as the studio wants to make The Elder Scrolls 6 first, which means it could be a long time before a new Fallout game sees the light of day. Nevertheless, videos like the TeaserPlay released this time around are a fun attempt to see what would happen if a game from over a decade ago was remade with today’s technology.

Fallout: New Vegas is available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
