Skyrim Multiplayer Mod Gets Revamped and Launches Soon

A release date has been announced for a cooperative, multiplayer Skyrim add-on, which will allow friends to play the game together.
Some games, such as Mojang’s Minecraft and Bethesda’s Skyrim, have been on the market for over 10 years and are still as popular as the day they were released. These video games have an incredibly long lifespan, partly due to their huge worlds, which never feel like they’ve been fully explored, and the limitless creativity they inspire in players.

In Skyrim, this inventiveness is expressed through the multitude of mods developed by the community. There is a Skyrim mod for almost anything that players can think of, whether it’s fixing the title’s infamous bugs, adding quality of life tweaks, increasing texture scaling, or adding a hot dog and burger stands. Some mods turn Skyrim into Star Wars and Red Dead Redemption 2 and even bring areas from Morrowind like Sheogorad and Bleakrock into the game.
A Skyrim mod called Skyrim Together was in development for years before progress was halted in 2019 when the developers of Skyrim Script Extender discovered that the mod team was using their code without permission. Since then, the mod has been redeveloped and restructured to bring co-op and multiplayer features to the special edition of Skyrim on Steam. The redesigned add-on, which is now called Skyrim Together Reborn, will be available on July 8.
Skyrim Together offers exactly what the name suggests: 2 to 8 players can enjoy the game together. There is even a PvP mode, but it is disabled by default. The host player creates the group and is responsible for interacting with NPCs and looting quest items, and during quest progress, progress is recorded for each group member. The Skyrim Together development team also recommends that the same player be the host for the duration of the game.
As a non-host party member, players can kill quest monsters and bosses, clear dungeons, and solve puzzles. All Skyrim quests, NPCs, dragons, and monsters are fully synchronized between all players, including animations, death modes, and locations. Chest items, NPC inventories, pickpocketing, stabbing, and dropped items are also synced, which is why pausing has been disabled in most menus. Random encounters with hunters, prisoners, and couriers are not possible in every world, however.

The development team also warns that Skyrim Together, a fairly complex add-on that syncs the progress of multiple players, could be buggy and occasionally crash. The add-on’s compatibility with other mods has also not yet been thoroughly tested, so the team recommends disabling other mods first. Skyrim Together is also still in development and the modders plan to implement more features in the future, such as syncing the weather between players and adding map markers. Despite these restrictions, the ability to play Skyrim with friends may be worth it for some fans.
